Miami Dolphins
Just a quick thought... Despite all of the doom and gloom being spouted by Miami Dolphins fans, there is a reason for cautious optimism coming out the 19-7 loss against Atlanta. In a nutshell, Miami's defense is looking much stouter than it did a year ago. Youngsters like defensive end Phillip Merling and Sean Smith made significant contribution...

The Dolphins D was the only bright spot in the whole game. They kept them in it until the 4th qtr.
The Phins needs to fix that O-line or it's gonna be a rough season. J. Abraham and Beirman tossed the dolphins around like rag dolls. Jake Long got schooled by Abraham and Babineaux. 4 sacks, 17 hurries....hell, Pennington only threw the ball 29 times.

I agree, it's just one game, but the O-line is the anchor of the offense. Since the Phins do not have any legit game breakers their offense is built on grinding it out and using their running attack to break down opposing defenses. They are a much more effective offense if they pass because they want to not because they have to. Dropping back from center was not working, so the shotgun was their only option to keep Pennington upright, but that limits your ability to use play action and certain misdirection plays. I was puzzled as to why the dolphins did not run any screen plays until the 4th qtr.
