Pennington injury could provide fortunate twist to unfortunate season

Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins have started the season 0-3. They're sporting a -5 turnover ratio. Their faltering starting quarterback, Chad Pennington, appeared to suffer a serious shoulder injury. Their alleged quarterback of the future, Chad Henne, threw an ugly interception to seal the loss against San Diego. Their secondary continues to be exposed, ...

Tough loss for the phish, but they have so many issues to sort out that I am afraid your commentary is quite on point. Given their schedule and the strength of the other teams in their division, it is highly unlikely they will be playing post season. It's time to assess what they have and plan for the future. When was the last time you saw a receiver on this team scampering into the endzone?? That's a HUGE issue. Their defensive line looked old and sloppy yesterday. When a slow QB like Rivers can outrun the rush and make plays 40 yards down field, that doesn't say much for your pass rush or coverage. The wildcat is fun to watch, but if it doesn't produce touchdowns, then it's nothing more than visual stimulation. I think the formation is still viable as a change of pace, but more emphasis should be placed on getting the ball down field and into the endzone...

It would appear that Pennigton's career is on the outs. I doubt that a 33 year old QB with another shoulder injury will win the come back player of the year award...again. So, the Dolphins are back to square one. No leadership under center and several unproven QB's on the list to try their turn with an offense that doesn't scare anybody. That is not an enviable position to be in. The yahoos in the front office for some crack induced reason, think that giving up a draft pick for Tyler Thigpen would solve their issues. A draft pick?? Seriously?? For the guy who holds the clipboard? This team continues to move backwards at breakneck speed. I just don't know what to think anymore....hopefully Henne will work out and they can win a few games until draft day. Maybe then they will put down the pipe and pick some gamebreakers..

Sadly how the Bills and Phins mirror each other. Both teams have been unsuccesfully searching for QB's since Kelly and Marino retired.
