Miami Dolphins
Thus far, the Miami Dolphins have had a lot of ups and downs in various phases of the game. Sometimes the pass rush is solid. Other times it's non-existent. Sometimes, the special teams unit is steady, while other times its extremely suspect. Sometimes the passing attack is acceptable...ok, well maybe that's a stretch. The point is that the team...

The run is what made the 70's Dolphins champs. However, they did have a top receiver to keep everyone honest.

Yeah, Doc...Warrfield was a big target and quite fast. They need a guy like that to step up and give this offense a different dimension. The NFL of today is a different beast. The rules have changed to favor a wide open, down the field passing game. Look at who won the superbowls the past several years. Granted the Stealers had the top running game last year, but they aired it out to win against the Ravens and then the Cardinals. Hugo, makes a good point about the run defense...it has been the ONLY consistent part of their defense. However, when your can throw the ball for 300+ yards a game against the Dolphins, why run? The colts only had 10 carries, Buffalo only 17 caries and Sproles just 18 caries....Miami has been averaging 30 caries a game. Clearly you can see where the focus of the offense has been, but if you cannot score touchdowns, then it doesn't mean much....it's just another stat!

Not much commentary on the Dolphins site of late, but here is a stab at how Miami might be able to beat the Jets. In order for the Phins to win, they have to keep this game close and turn it into a battle of the trenches. I believe that Miami's run game is better than the Jet's run game....keep Sanchez on his heals with constant pressure and turn this into a force against force type of game. Not sure of the weather conditions, but wouldn't it be nice if the field was an inch think with mud....reminds me of the 82 playoffs against the Jets. Another option that has yet to be exercised is moving Taylor around on the line. When Taylor had his breakout year and won the defensive player of the year award it was due in part because of superb scheming and careful study of opposing offenses gap control. keeping offenses guessing what he is gonna do and where he is coming from was great to watch. One other note: The wildcat won't win this game...they will have to find another way...Ryan is to smart for that gimmick.
