Philadelphia Eagles
Andy Reid detractors like to point out that the Philadelphia Eagles head coach doesn't care about linebackers. Of course, your average football fan never allows facts to get in the way of a good argument. Sure, Reid has often used premium picks in the NFL draft to try and fill his perceived holes at the position. But they never work, so he must ...

First of all vanilla and Jim Johnson are not two words I ever put together until the last line of this article. That said, I'm giving Johnson some credit for using him in the ways that he can help the defense best. If his abilities are useful on the weakside, fine, but Omar Gaither helps the team more right now. Possibly, working on the strong side will force Gaither to develop his pass-rushing abilities to beat a blocking tight end or jam him at the line. The fact that he's spending his time in coverage, to me, says that Johnson doesn't trust him to get maximum production on the weakside, and he doesn't think Gaither has developed well enough to contribute as a pass rusher off the strong side either. Jim Johnson is a pretty solid D coordinator. Give him some credit.

nhartman as an Eagles fan I have to disagree with whatever the D coordinator or Reid is upto that our job as fans.

Linebackers are a very important role in any defense. Like I said many times before this season will prove to be a passing one for any team that wishing to become the Super Contender. Stop the pass and pass yourself. Hate to admit it but Philly is just not ready to compete at that level yet.

Philly's D is always going to be flying to the ball no matter who's wearing the jersey, that's Jim Johnson's defense. What I still don't understand about the Eagles is why they still haven't gotten any weapons on the offensive side of the ball. They got McNabb one weapon in T.O. and how did that work out? Oh yeah, making it to the super bowl.
