When all else fails, luck prevails for the Giants

New York Giants
They fought back. They showed off that "Giants Pride." They showed a lot of backbone, a lot of nerve. The same clichés are repeated over and over about how the New York Giants stuck around and beat the Philadelphia Eagles this past Sunday, after a 17-point deficit was shoveled onto them. But, what it really comes down to is this: a collapse and ...

Nah, it's called "playing the game" or "playing what's in front of you". And that's what the Giants did, especially Eli Manning. There are many "turning points" that present themselves during EVERY game - the key to winning is CONVERTING these opportunities. Counterpoint - Eagles failed 4th down conversion - definite turning point (game could have been iced by the Eagles then and there), in otherwords, they failed to CONVERT this opportunity. Turning points STILL need to be CONVERTED to win. Giants did & WON. More impressivly & really why the Giants won was the courage & cool Eli Manning showed under adversity. I'm a real believer that if a player (any player / any sport) can win through adversity EARLY in their career - they keep doing it. Very few can do it later in their careers if they didn't do it early - the mind plays too many tricks that can effect performance whilst under pressure. This is not the first time Eli has performed such deeds & it won't be the last - as a skins fan, that bothers me !

If I was a Giants fan I would be happy about the win and sad that I realized they have no offensive line and defensive life. This equates that the Giants are not a super bowl team. If the Eagles are able to get their corner backs healthy, they will win the NFC East garunteed.

This article is the problem with the deluge of sports media--the need to try and be different at the expense of fact. The fact is that while there was certainly luck, especially with the fumble, there was also hustle--Shiancoe running down the field to keep Lewis from being able to easily corral the fumble and Carter hustling to get the td.

The hustle is emblematic of the fact that they still thought they could win--pride.

And in overtime, the Giants ran how many plays to the Eagles 4? Somewhere in the teens. And the Giants td drive was 85 yards but apparently it was only luck. Nevermind the fact that Eli and Plax had signaled eachother before that TD pass and a jump ball to wide receivers is part of the modern football game not just luck.

And was it lcuky when the Giants had a ball bounce off Tiki and be intercepted duiring this comeback?

And Toomer having a good game is also called luck in this article. Just denoting something as luck and repeating it over and over, doesn't make it so.
