Championship game kribbles, part II: Packers’ offense vs. Giants’ defense

New York Giants
With the divisional round invariably comes at least one surprise, and this season we got two, as the suddenly upstart New York Giants offed the Cowboys to the chagrin of few outside of Terrell Owens and the greater Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The swell thing about these Giants - aside from nearly completely detaching the choker label...
What's the buzz about?

The pukers are a one-player team. Their defense is weak and their offense comes down to throwing up the ball play after play and hoping for the best. The only reason they have any rushing at all is because they do use the pass to set up the run. Go take a look at that game where the giants smashed the Bills. Big Blue is made for bad weather. If you look position by position at the Pukers, they are a bad team. They made the playoffs with a padded schedule of losers and then they got the weakest team in the playoffs (Seahawks) at home. But it don't matter. The G-Men are either going to win this game and play in their second superbowl this season or they are going to leave the Packers with piles of wounded on the field. And after the game, Bret Farve will be crying just like they left TO crying last weekend.

Giants will kill packers and then take superbowl. I am proud to be a New Jerseyer and love my Giants!

Dear Carl,

When you wake up from your dream, check back in. Looking at strength of schedule for '07 packers did in fact have an easier schedule than the giants...by 4 thousanths of a percent. Packers-0, Giants-1. Back in sunny and warmer days I recall the Packers absolutely pasting the Giants. Packers-1, Giants-1. If I have my facts straight, the Packers were seeded #2, the Giants #5 in the NFC. Packers-2, Giants-1. In the division playoffs the Packers soiled the sheets in a big way (I told the beer man not to move from my side, I was bracing for a long and cold afternoon at Lambeau). The youngest team in the NFL came back to absolutely humiliate the Seahawks. As I recall, the Giants won their division playoff game too...but by the skin of their teeth. If one more play would have gone in the Cowboy's direction, sianara Giants. But, in the NFL, a win is a win, so we'll call this a draw. Lets now take a look at the most important position on the team - Quarterback. Eli's luck has run out and its time for him to show his true colors. With a gimpy Plax and a couple of other no-names it will be a long and cold afternoon. Favre and the 5 amigo's (Driver, Jennings, Jones, Martin, Robinson) clearly outmatch Giants secondary. Packers-3, Giants-1. On to momentum (you remember momentum, it went back and forth in the Giants/Cowboys game like a yoyo). The Giants started out flat and came on towards the end of the season to squeek into the playoffs. The Packers have been on a roll since week 12 of the 2006 season. Momentum advantage-Packers. Packers-4, Giants-1. Lets also look at the health of both teams. Packers earned a bye week as a result of being #2 in the NFC (did I already mention that?) and are well rested. Further, they sustained no new injuries in their game on Saturday (I was there, it was as magical as you might imagine it to be). Have not looked at the injury report for the Giants lately but Ross didn't look good at all, Plax is gimpy and I know there were a few others but names escape me at this time. Packers-5, Giants-1. Finally, lets talk about home field advantage. Certainly the Packers have slipped up a bit but nobody in their right mind would ever dispute the importance of home field advantage. Final score, Packers-6, Giants-1. Giants are a good team, just not good enough to overtake the Packers this Sunday. Good luck, you'll need it. I'll send my next post from Glendale, AZ.

GO PACKERS!!
