Nebraska Cornhuskers
When asked which college football team was the best of the 1990s, most fans probably say Florida State (1993 national champion, 1999 BCS champ), Florida (1996 national champion, the great Steve Spurrier era), or Miami (1991 national champion, 92-27 mark over the decade). OK, fine. Can’t argue with facts. But how is it that so few (aside from ...

Uh...if "most fans" don't know that NU was the most dominant team of the 90's, than they either:
1-Are quite slow on the uptake
2-have no idea what they're talking about and are therefore not probably all that big of "fans" of the game
3-are either too young to respect history that expired 8 years ago, or too old to remember.

The Huskers run in the 90's (specifically 1993-1997) is unprecedented in the modern era of college football. That run has not been duplicated and is very likely to remain so. No team one won more crystal footballs in that decade? Try "before or since" instead of "in that decade"!
For starters, NU won 5 BIG EIGHT titles and 2 Big Twelve titles in the '90's...
But aside from that little glitch...
Uh, you mentioned how Miami won a MNC in 1991...while true, they also went 5-6 in 1997--so I'd suppose that having a losing season in the decade in question would probably automatically remove a given team from any sort of "team of the decade" discussion...even if they did split a single national title seven years earlier in the decade. I'd like to sit down with this supposed handful of people who actually believe that Florida had a better decade than NU...we could watch my tape of the 1996 Fiesta bowl together. Actually, FSU (with 1/2 fewer titles on the decade) is the only program that can come close to having a claim against NU as the "Team of the 90's"...as they edged the Huskers with one more win (and a few points worth of win %) and (as you noted) head-to-head results (straight-up, of course...as FSU performed terribly against NU ATS).

But to reiterate...NO TEAM has ever had a better record than NU's 60-3 between 1993-1997. That alone makes it a pretty open and shut case. I wouldn't think that this would come as news and would be pretty self-evident to some website called "realfootball365". But whatever--If that's truly the case, then "most fans" are uninformed, unknowledgeable idiots, I guess. But I really don't think they are and I think that the truth is that your premise is the most ill-advised of your many inaccurate remarks.
