Nebraska Cornhuskers
A brisk Saturday afternoon at Lincoln Memorial Stadium packed with 80,000 fans clad in scarlet and cream. Seventy-five years of tradition. The loyalty of a state. Bill Callahan took a promotion when he assumed the reins of the head coaching job at Nebraska three years ago, and now the pressure is really on. Sure, Callahan was on the verge of ...

As a loyal Husker fan for many, many years, I agree that Husker fans are waiting anxiously for Callahan to produce his first real "breakaway" big team. This past team had moments when it looked poised to win some "big games", but none of them became reality. As this article points out, until that happens, the Husker Faithful are going to be restless.

Great article about what Football means to Nebraska fans, both in and out of the state of Nebraska. The quintessential running team. The legendary coaches, the most heralded fans in college football. Yes, that's what Nebraska football is all about. And, oh, before I forget... WINNING. Yes, it's about time Coach Callahan wins a markee game. Winning the Big 12 is simply NOT enough. Winning the National Championship is what needs to happen THIS YEAR.

Enough of the old tired "talent" schmalent stuff. Bologna! When teams like 2* studded Boise can lay some wood to OU it goes to prove that in the college game it's coaching, thirst and hunger that play more important roles in winning than just talent. When we can outplay AU and still lose by 3 points after giving them 14 points, it's DEFINITELY not talent.

It's about time Callahan and co. win the big one. That's the ONLY way he'll quite the critics and gain full time membership into the Husker football hearts of 1000's of fans.

Go Big RED!!

Another brillant post by A Husker fan who seems to think that he's entitiled to a National championship, "NOW". By that reasoning, Nebraska would have no National Championships as Devaney would have been fired no later than 1968 and Coach Osborne, who took 23 years to win his first would have never been here. As a long time fan and former player, I am almost hoping that we begin the constant coaching turnover that was here in the 40's and 50's, when fan's prayed for a 5 win season so that maybe the most spoiled fans in college football appreciate what they have.
