San Francisco 49ers
As the NFL draft continues to creep closer, one mistake from last year's picks must still weigh heavily on the minds of San Francisco's front office. In trading this year's top choice for what became offensive lineman Joe Staley, the 49ers wagered heavily in 2007 they wouldn't, once again, end up as one of the worst teams in the league. Instead...

I agree that the 49ers bet the farm that we wouldn't be giving Belichek a top 10 pick, but Staley shows signs that he might be a multiple year LT for us, and that is worth at least a top half of the 1st round pick. We are still in position to get a guy like Quentin Groves or Clifford Avril with either our late 1st or early 2nd. It's at worst a mistake, but not an insurmountable one. The draft is more than the 1st round, and the franchises that pay better attention to the 2nd day guys are the ones who end up getting better.

Mr. Young nothing in the NFL is a sure thing. I really don't believe that the Patriots will pick a DE in the draft. As you know, both of their corners will be free agents this year. Futhermore, they have Thomas who did a descent job this year for the Patriots. Besides, the niners are going after Justin Smith and Briggs. Who many believe that he will not have much impact (Smith). However, I strongly feel that McNolan will be using the 4-3 more often. Unless of coarse, Manny Lawson and Jay Moore are able to put pressure up front. Also, Haraylson has been more consistent than Banta-Cain. He was very disappointing this year.
So don't be harsh on Mr. McNolan. The Offensive Line is what really brought the team down this year. The Defense did a very good job.

Nolan's ego is detrimental to the team and it has cost the team the #7 pick and they are really missing out on an elite player. Although no draft pick is a guarantee, they have the cap space for a top 10 pick and its a shame. I won't rule them out trading up. It all hinges on the moves they make in FA and we should see a potential Wild Card team this year. Belee dat.
