I agree that it has to be Smith's job. Hill and O'Sullivan are career backups at best.
I do think this is a make-or-break year for Smith. If he can't perform well this year, he may never live up to former No. 1 pick status. Martz's pass happy offense should make is easier for Smith to put up good numbers, and they have upgraded their receiving corp somewhat with Isaac Bruce and Bryant Johnson.
I also think Mike Nolan's job status is tied closely to whether Alex Smith succeed this year or not.
