San Francisco 49ers
Although the 2008 NFL season is still almost four months away from starting, players and coaches of the San Francisco 49ers gathered this past Monday for the first day of organized team activities. While these activities (or practices, as they might be called in an apolitically correct world) are voluntary, you had better believe that the...

I think this article is a little overboard. Because we don't know the reason for his absence, and he has been the most consistant receiver the 49ers have had, he deserves a "little" slack. Battle is a proffessional, and I'm sure has reason for missing "voluntary" OTA's.

I will agree with you that Battle is not a good receiver. (There, I said it.) He just isn't good. In fact, he is average at best. Every stat produced in this article shows how average to below average he is. The 49ers have been drafting and paying free agents to replace him. The fact he still starts, shows how inept the offense and talent is at wide receiver.

The sad part is, that before this season, he's been the 49ers best pass option. The real question is, will he still be?

Seems to me that Battle will now be "battling" for playing time with Isaac Bruce and Bryant Johnson. I thought I heard something about his absence being due to "personal reasons" or something. OTAs could be vital for him though, if he hopes to start this season.
