San Francisco 49ers
It hasn't exactly been a smooth transition to a full-time 3-4 scheme for Mike Nolan's defense, which could mean a rough start to the season. The San Francisco 49ers brought in 11 new defenders to make the 3-4 go, but they've already lost a number of them as injuries have hampered the team's defensive preparations and robbed the unit of the...

Sticking with the "it is all not gloom and doom" theme:
Meliven Olliver was great last year in the 4/3 but may not have fit in with the 3/4 ( i think i read that here back when he got injured). Moore and Cohen are just rookies and I don't think anyone expected to see them on the field that much, Moore is even learning a new position, they need time to develop, although I understand its tuff to develop on IR. I think Franklin and Young missed preseason more of a precautionary move. They are veterans and the time off to heal was probably more impotant than the experience of preseason. Meanwhile it allowed Soap to soldify his back up status and play. I think our DL is pretty good and deep. And our Inside Linebackers are good. I would say that maybe our Outside linebackers could be a point of concern. Can't wait to see.

Chris (glass half empty) Cluff, does someone really pay you for writing this crap? What a waste. If you can't write something useful or insightful, write about bowling or something else. Spare us. Please!

Again, Not the right talent for a 3-4, sure the linebackers are good enough to run it, but a good 3-4 starts at the line and the niners DO NOT have the Dlineman to run it. They will expose Clements and Harris as the average CB they are. For all you less than knowledgeable niner fans this means no pressure from the ends = long pass plays down the field. Smith looked good vs. S.D something like 1 first down in 4 series, WOW! 37 yards in 13 plays, WOW! thats almost 3 yards a play! 1 INT and 1 fumble, He is on pace to be the greatest bust EVER! Move over Ryan Leaf!
