San Francisco 49ers
It's no secret that 49ers quarterback Alex Smith could use a little help from his so-called friends. Despite signing Darrell Jackson, who led the Seahawks in 2006 with 10 touchdowns and 956 receiving yards, San Francisco's Mike Nolan watched as the Niners' aerial game sputtered this season. Fifth-year wideout Arnaz Battle led the team with 600...

Before we judge how good the rcvng core is we need to build an OL that gives the QB enough time to actually look around before seeing how blue the sky is that day (or what the dome looks like from your back...or how deep the grass is when your face is pushed into it). If we can't keep the defence off our QB for long enough to actually get the plays set up it won;t matter who we have a rcvrs...they won't be getting any numbers.

Three-Pronged strategy:
1. Determine who on the current roster fits. Think outside the box--Delanie Walker as a wideout--at 6' and 240 lbs, good speed, and after the catch ability. Is he a hidden gem?? Battle will always be solid. And give Hill a chance.
2. Draft 1-2 receivers: Douglas, Jackson, Royal or Avery for the slot and a larger wideout for the outside.
3. ID your set of receivers and practice like hell...for perfection!!
At wide receiver, the 49ers are a lot better off than many teams. I think we'll all be surprised at the "effectiveness" of the new receiving corps.

Expanding on Niner Dog's comments. I would say it's worth looking at both Delanie Walker and Michael Robinson at WR's. Michael Robinson may be misused at running back. Coming out of Penn State a couple draft boards had him listed as among the top 15 propects at WR. Walker at 6 ft may be too short to play tight end on a regular basis.
