Let’s say Green Bay wins on Sunday…

Green Bay Packers
ESPN recently ran a fantastic short interview with Brian Urlacher in which, for just a second, the facade of Jockspeak was torn away. The former University of New Mexico Lobo naturally faced, as question No. 1, something to the overly well-worn effect of "Will the Chicago Bears go 16-0?" "Mutter, mutter," said Urlacher, "one game at a time yadda,...

Sounds like a plan. Wont the Bears be resting their starters if theyre not 15-0?

I appreciate the optimism, Os, and you are correct, many games which appeared unwinnable a few weeks ago are now emminently winnable.

It could happen. But the smart money wouldn't bet that way.

The Packers have had a nice little soft spot where they've played some weaklings. Playing from in front, with outstanding protection, Favre has played very well.

But some real games against real defenses are coming up, and over the last four years Favre has been a poor quarterback against good defenses, and when he has to play from behind, which he undoubtedly will the second half of the season.

The secondary is still porous, and any real QB isn't going to have a lot of trouble with it.

I think 6-10 is a good bet, perhaps even 7-9, which is more than I thought they'd win at the beginning of the season. But they've got to beat a real team before I'll get excited about a playoff shot.

I would like to see this happen as I had the Packers finishing around 9-7, 10-6. Call me crazy. I think the Pack has a run left in them. If you take into account their season started with losses to Chicago(undefeated) New Orleans(surprise team of the year,1st place NFC SOuth) at Philly, (sagging now, but hot start & still a contender) StLouis (tied for 1st place N/West) they are not as bad as their record. I agree there are some viable wins coming their way, beating Buffalo to get to .500 is a good start. Then splitting the remaining division games would have them at 6-6. Take out Seattle, SF and Jets at home and they are at 9 wins. Nine games might be enough to get into the playoffs this year! Crazy talk I tell ya'!
