Panthers catching Bengals at wrong time

Carolina Panthers
If you caught any highlights from that pitiful Bengals-Bucs game last weekend, then you obviously saw the atrocious roughing the passer penalty that led to the soon-to-be-fabled hookup of Gradkowski to Clayton and the winning score. Like most ardent fans of the NFL, I'm not a huge proponent of the roughing the passer flag. In my lifetime, I've...

Carolina will win. Bengals are struggling on both sides of the ball due to injuries and suspensions. A 3 game losing streak is what it's going to take for them to wake up! In the long run Bengals can make up ground on Baltimore. Carolina on the other hand needs to win, and then beat Dallas at home next week so that they can keep pace with the Saints. It is imperative they go into the bye week 6-2. Carolina's schedule is tough down the stretch and winning the next three is important otherwise Saints could get away from them. It is quite likely the NFC South championship will come down to last game of the season: Carolina at New Orleans. And the Super Dome is a scary place to play this season.

Mr. Lykes, Your analysis appears to be that the Bengals will win because they are pissed off. The Panthers will win simply because they are a more disciplined team. Delhomme will have another monster game against an overated Bengals defense. Nick Goings could rush for 100 yards again these clowns. Panthers by 10 only because John Fox will play conservatively with the lead.

Mr. Yancey, you know, I don't recall making a pick in that column. And actually, if I were a betting man, and nobody's saying I am, I would probably take the 3 and put my money on the Panthers. Although this one is more of a "don't touch" in my opinion. Panthers by 10, hmmm, maybe ("only because John Fox will play conservatively with the lead" is a bit much though, they are playing defending division champs on the road- don't count your chickens there pal). Also, don't over look the "pissed off" factor- I've seen teams win for less. MY PICK Bengals 27-25. Ha, take that.
