Oakland Raiders
Even when things are moving at the turtle-slow pace of the NFL offseason, sometimes you still need a scorecard to keep track. One week ago, RealFootball365.com posted a depth chart for the Oakland Raiders' 2009 offense. In the meantime, Samson Satele has been brought over from the Miami Dolphins, Cornell Green has been arrested on assault charges...
What's the buzz about?

If Al Davis goes defense with his first pick then B.J. Raji is my choice and hopefully Al's.

Second round then we can focus on a top WR.

Hi gang, it's been a long time since I posted a comment. I have been reading yours this last week to catch up. I stopped after the Falcons shut us out in Oakland. I was seriously disheartened. After years of disappointment, that one just killed me. Well, the Raiders finished up '08 strongly. I've been watching what they've been doing, and...once again, I've become optimistic about our boys. I wasn't sure Tom Cable could do the job, but I had a very uneasy feeling about Kiffin. His rift with Al was a danger sign to me. So, I was glad when he was replaced. The more I see of Cable, the better I like him. He's got a real grasp of the players, and what they need. He's not afraid of making changes. So far, he's done very well! I like the fact, that he & Al, are working together like a well-oiled machine. NO drama- REAL Harmony! That has to have good consequences for the whole organization. As for the upcoming draft, I think this bodes very well. This could be the team's best of the century! Signing Barnes, Pears, and Satele, should improve the offense's biggest weakness. MY view is that the Raiders' biggest need now, is to improve the Rush defense. How can we get to the playoffs with a bottom-tier run D? So, my preference is DT Raji with our 1st pick. It would be sweet to have a Biletnikoff-like talent, like WR Crabtree, in Silver & Black. Yet, I think DT is a bigger need. I would've rated WR our 3rd biggest need, behind DT and OT, until Barnes was signed. Now, our 2nd pick should be WR Heyward-Bey or Robiskie. If Raji is gone, then Crabtree, then OLB Curry would be my favorite choices for our top pick. If we get Crabtree or Curry, then we still need to get the best DT left, with our 2nd pick. There seems to be far more top talent, at WR, than at DT, in this year's draft. So, in the 3rd round, a top WR should be there, while a top DT won't be. Anyway, that's my thinking. If we were able to nab OLB Curry in the first, DT Ron Brace in the 2nd, and WR Robiskie in the 3rd, WOW! 3 big holes well filled! Can you imagine our D jumping into the top-10? How about the targets for JaMarcus? Or, if we get DT Raji in the 1st, then get our WR in the 2nd, and the best available LB, DE, OT, or C in the 3rd. Now, if we get WR Crabtree in the 1st, then get our DT in the 2nd. I can see many ways the Raiders can go, and assure themselves of upgrading 3 or more areas, in this draft. The Raiders can only go up from last year. I lost the faith, for awhile last year. Al Davis and Tom Cable have helped me get it back. I love my Raiders. Once again, I believe, we're witnessing the RETURN TO GREATNESS!
