Oakland Raiders
Though the season seems like forever away, the NFL’s release of the 2009 schedule brings hope to many a pro football junkie. Light at the end of the tunnel there is; on the other hand, whoa, this Oakland Raiders schedule is tough enough to make one fear that glowing in the distance is the fast-moving express bearing down hard on the silver and ...

Seeing as the teams and places were already pre-determined, I think the schedule makers did us a few favors on the dates.

1. I love that our bye week comes after week 8, which I believe is our latest bye week in some time.

2. Playing Kansas City and Cincinnati at home after the bye should have us on a nice winning streak when we play a very tough Nationally Televised game on Thanksgiving against the Cowboys.

3. Because we play on a Thanksgiving (Thursday), we'll have extra time to recuperate and game-plan for arguably our toughest game of the season: The Steelers on the road.

Basically it's a tough schedule, but I believe all the AFC West schedules are stacked. So it's crucial, as always to win within the division. Clearly, we MUST beat San Diego which we haven't been able to do in a very, very, very long time. If we get swept as usual by San Diego, we can pretty much throw away the notion of winning the Division and with our schedule, there is no way it's realistic to think we'll qualify for a Wild Card.

Anyway, here's to winning the AFC West!!!

The first three games are important but they're not season making or ending.A lot of cold games at the end of the season. At last a bye week in the middle of the season instead of after the fourth game.

Whoever we play, whenever we play "ALEA IACTA EST" .
