For Raiders, Crabtree or Maclin have to be it

Oakland Raiders
Not everyone may agree that the Oakland Raiders should draft a wide receiver seventh overall on April 25. Then again, you’d have to be blind to believe that the silver and black are somehow set at wideout. If the season started today, the Raider receiving corps would consist of Javon Walker, Johnnie Lee Higgins, Chaz Schilens, Todd Watkins, Arman...

I clearly recognize the need at Wide Receiver, but answer this AC: What part of the game has the Raiders been the worst at over the last 3 years? Yep, STOPPING THE RUN!!! I think we need to address that, or possibly obtain a Stud Offensive Lineman, or how Cable refers to them: a Cadillac. Cable says there are 4 of them in this years draft (Jason Smith, Eugene Monroe, Andre Davis, and Michael Oher). A quality Wide Receiver in my opinion can be had in the 2nd round.

I'm still sold on B.J. Raji with our pick, as he addresses our biggest need and he was clearly the best run stopper in College Football. Don't be fooled by his teammate, his teammate excelled because of Raji, not vise versa.

I would also love it if a Jason Smith or Eugene Monroe fell to us (Highly Doubtful though). If all were off the board, I would go Crabtree (not Maclin). If all 4 of them are gone, I'd go with Andre Smith. He was the consensus #1 pick until he had a meltdown at the combine, but has since seemed to have gotten back in focus. For me though, sometimes too much weight can be held at the combine, and Andre Smith between the lines and in pads was one of the best there was last year. Plus, if you listened to Coach Cable talk about Andre Smith, he called Dynamite. Not once mind you, but TWICE!!! Smokescrean? I don't think so, as Cable just has a passion for Offensive Line play and he sees a gamer there.

What Craig said.

Al will take Crabtree if he's still there at seven. If not it's Raji........what's the latest about the failed drug test? We can pick up a solid WR with the second pick. Then there's the third option of trading down.
