Has the Raiders’ first-round decision been made?

Oakland Raiders
With the NFL draft mere days away and the Oakland Raiders lacking in one area (the defensive line) and sorely lacking in three others (wide receiver, offensive tackle, safety), speculation is rife as to what Tom Cable, Al Davis & Co. will do with the seventh overall selection. But has the Raider brain trust already made the decision? Sure, it’s...

From what I've read, I think your hunch is correct. If the Raiders stay at #7, their first choice will be one of the 4 "Cadillacs", Coach Cable covets. Which would be okay! I'm pretty sure Khalif Barnes will be one of our starting tackles. After shoulder surgery, he should be ready for a very good year. So, if we get our other starting tackle with this pick, it'll be worth it.
However, there's still the possibilty, that Mario Henderson is ready to be a quality starter, as well. That would be great for our OT depth. The other side of that coin is, that would mean, we didn't need to take an OT with our first pick. Whoever the Raiders pick MUST become a star! To get back to the playoffs, they've got to start hitting homeruns, with their draftpicks.
If we keep the #7 pick, here's what I hope the Raiders do, if these players are available: 1st choice- DT B.J. Raji
2nd choice- DE Brian Orakpo
3rd choice- OLB Aaron Curry
4th choice- OT Eugene Monroe
5th choice- OT Andre Smith
6th choice- WR MIchael Crabtree
7th choice- OT Michael Oher
If we don't trade down, I hope this pick goes for the best defensive stud still there. If all 3 have been taken, then go for the best of these offensive studs. We can't really go wrong with any of these guys. I just hope we help the D first. Stick with these guys, and the Raiders will hit..."a long flyball, deep to centerfield! Way, way back! It's going...going...GONE!"
Have Faith & Fun with the draft, Raider Nation!

Is this site infected with the Conficker Worm? Took 5-minutes to load after signing in.

I sure hope we don't go with an offensive lineman. At least not @ #7, the Raiders have a history of picking awful 1st round OL,Clay, Stinchcomb,Collins,Gallery.... And with Robert Gallery as a guard he's a bust for 2nd overall in the 2004 draft, we could of had Big Ben. I also hope we don't take Maclin, speedburner WR/KR/PR from Missouri. Basically another Johnnie Lee Higgins and J.L. gets what 20 catches a year? That's not going to cut it and it's always mentioned that Al Davis loves speed, loves the fastest people on the planet like James Jett while other teams are taking less WR's without the gold medal speed and their receivers are heading to the Hall of Fame.

I like Crabtree, if he's not available, I say we go for a pass rusher and like our good buddie OS here, why don't we take a chance on Plaxico?

My ultimate scenario would be to trade JaMarcus for a whole bunch of picks, but we know nobody wants his contract. I can't kick Al Davis on picking JaMarcus because I wanted the guy as well at the time, yet it's looking more & more like he'll end up as our biggest bust since Eldridge Dickey (who luckily we picked Ken Stabler second or we would of been toast)

I also wouldn't blame the Raiders if the picked a QB at #7, I know that seems like a waste, but let's face it. J-Rock is not as mobile as we hoped and his accuracy is worse. We could limp around for 5-years under JaMarcus with a 51-54% completion record, which I think we'll probably do. I just wish we could cut our losses like a bad stock, sell it down and start anew!

With the 7th selection in the 2009 NFL Draft the Oakland Raiders select...

#1. Crabtree
#2. Defensive End
#3. Trade Down
#4. QB
#5. LB

"How about trading Michael Bush and 2010 picks for Anquan Boldin plus a mid-rounder? "

Michael Bush should not be traded for anybody, ever. Might as well throw in DMac too since we would be destroying our future 1-2 punch that will be the catalyst towards our rebuilding to greatness. Sure Boldin would be a nice addition, but not at that price.

And Plaxico? Are you kidding me? He can't score points from his cell block.

Spoakland, I like your thinking. I would move Curry up to #2, Monroe & Crabtree would be a very, very close #3 & 4. Raji would be my #1 at this point. We MUST begin stopping the run or we're going to continue to loose.

Being the dedicated Father that I am, I will be down in San Diego taking my family to the Wild Animal Park Saturday for my Daughters BDay (the BIG 3). However, being the dedicated Raider Fan that I am, I have all the hookups on my phone & will be on line; I'm sure my wife will give me all kinds of shit
