Oakland Raiders
Although the Oakland Raiders’ backfield is three deep with talented runners, Michael Bush may be on the verge of a breakout season. Along with Darren McFadden and Justin Fargas, the Raiders’ running backs corps is expected to carry the team in 2009. Bush should be a major part of that. After making the transition from quarterback to running back ...

The Raiders need to develop a system that puts all three of their running backs to use. I’m thinking something similar to what Parcels did in Dallas. Julius Jones would carry the ball all first half and wear down defenses then bring in a fresh Marion Barber for the second half. The Giants do the opposite with Jacobs carrying the ball all first half. McFadden can carry the ball all first half spelled by Fargas. Then Bush can pound the rock on a tired defense spelled by McFadden. Many fans are calling for the trade of Justin Fargas and I disagree. I think by using three backs in a system you can keep them fresh all season and through the playoffs. Look at the Chargers, L.T. has 1700 yards rushing and is too banged up to play in the playoffs year in and year out. If the Raiders run the ball 459 times like they did in 2008, there is more than enough carries to go around.

I would like to see us playing Darren McFadden as RB1, getting +20 carries per game. That's why we pay him 60 millions. The only game he had +20 carries last season was Week 2 against KC and he had over 160 rushing yards. I like he has the ability to play WR, RB, KR, PR, throw the football,... but I don't want him to become a Reggie Bush Part II, he is a running back and I want to see him running the football. McFadden should be the most involved player in the offense.

Michael Bush should be the first off the bench when McFadden needs to rest. We know what Fargas can do, now it's McFadden & Bush turn.

We had the same conversation last year when we drafted Dmac.3 headed running game,Cerberus and all that, remember ? This year I hope the coaches get it right.

Both bigsnow and El Tato make good points. There must be a middle ground somewhere.
