Emergence of Raiders’ running backs could spark problems

Oakland Raiders
While Raider Nation is hopeful Oakland’s running game will continue to build off last season, having multiple marquee backs on the roster could prove to be a challenge. With players demanding new contracts or trades at an alarming rate, the Raiders’ front office may be forced to make critical decisions at the position in the very near future....

fargas signed a 5 yr 20 mill contract last season didnt he? , i don't see him complaining about getting a new one since the raiders rewarded him when he put a decent season together the year before....let bush put up a 1200 yd rudhing season so when he starts lobbying for a new cotract the raiders will be able to trade him to the highest bidder, do i want that to happen? hell no because 1st mcfadden has to prove he isn'r injury prone...we already know fargas is......when does louis rankin get his shot?

I don't see a "problem" at all. If Michael Bush rushes for 1,200 yards (That's quite a bit though with McFadden also in the picture), we'll gladly give him a better contract. If there is any tension among the backs as to the number of carries, if both perform well, either (McFadden or Bush) would get us a really high draft pick.

Look at Jacksonville the last few years though with Maurice Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor. In 2006 Fred Taylor had 1,146 yards and 5 TD's and Maurice Jones-Drew had 941 yards and 13 TD's. In 2007 Fred Taylor had 1,202 yards and 5 TD's and Maurice Jones-Drew had 768 yards and 9 TD's. I hardly ever heard any talk about the two not co-existing together well and there being any beefs about carries or who got the goal-line carries. It's very possible that we could keep these guys (McFadden and Bush) in the Silver & Black for at least the next few years (about the time Bush is a un-restricted free agent).

Wednesday is Media day at the OTA's and I'm waiting anxiously to hear good news on JaMarcus' accuracy. Does anyone know if Ohio University and Maryland are out of session now so Mitchell and DHB can practice? What a F'd up rule!!!

RC, good point, there is absolutely no reason to not to keep Bush, McFadden and Fargus.

I also thought I heard Fargus negotiated his 4/20 contract down last year so it was possible to keep all three, but I only heard it one time on television.

Fargus just happens to be an excellent #3 back, nobody hits the hole faster and he gives every run 100 percent. He makes them pay for every stop, because of that he does get banged up, but because of that, the other team doesn't get a breather when he's on the field.

He's a definite asset, besides with a potential uncapped year coming up, nobody really knows how salaries are going to shake out.
