Oakland Raiders
With defensive end Derrick Burgess rumored to be on his way out of Oakland, the Raiders prepared for his departure by signing 11-year NFL veteran Greg Ellis -- whose pass-rushing skills will help mentor a young group of defensive linemen in the trenches; he should also boost a run defense that struggled mightily a year ago. Okay,he'll be 34 come the start of the season and I can't see him playing for another 3 years but,I like this move. Get rid of the sulk and let Ellis show the kids how it's done. Now,if we could pick up a DT of similar ability and experience........

He is an inmediate upgrade over Jay Richardson. No doubt about that.

With Ellis and Burgess outside, and Sulak and Scott as pass rushers I think we are OK at Defensive End.

Last year Ellis was upset because he wanted a new contract. Still he ''contributed greatly to the Cowboys training camp, taking the young players under his wing and mentoring them while he has been unable to practice''.

In 2007 he made the Pro Bowler and was the NFL Comeback Player of the Year.

Great signing, rookies and younger players need to fight for their playing time. When we last played the Super Bowl we had veteran players like John Parrella, Sam Adams or Trace Armstrong in the line. Ellis is 33 but he can still play and we need leaders on this young team.

Definately a step in the right direction and their still time to pick up some run support. I think Hollis Thomas is still out there or maybe Grady Jackson. 1 big body to clog upsome running lanes would litteraly close a few holes on defense. The season is still a ways off, but we are looking great on paper.
