Should Raiders’ Russell run the ball more?

Oakland Raiders
Since his arrival in the NFL, Oakland Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell’s passing skills have been on full display. However, his ability to run the ball may be they key to a more successful 2009 campaign. Weighing in at 260 pounds, Russell is surprisingly agile for a player of his stature and could prove to be a bruising runner on the ground.

Russell should only run as a last option. Why risk your franchise QB ? Why let your QB run when you have Fargas,Bush and Dmac ?

I agree Neil B.

Has our staff told JR never to run? I don't believe so since instincts usually take over and all QBs take off eventually. But to encourage him to run, well, that might not be the best idea. I do agree that play actions & roll outs should be a more prevalent in our offense. At least until our OL can prove it can pick up a blitz or just pass protect in general.
