Oakland Raiders
The hits just keep coming for (or from depending on your perspective) Tom Cable, who may or may not be guilty of multiple counts of domestic violence. Any man will tell you striking another man, as Cable was accused of doing to ex-Raider asst coach Randy Hanson, is one thing. Striking a woman is another thing entirely. NOW, the National...

Tom Cable should not be fired because of the Randy Hanson incident. Tom Cable should not be fired because of of a domestic violence allegation 20 years ago. Tom Cable deserves to be fired for his coaching, or shall I say LACK OF. He flat out stinks and never should have been hired on full-time in the first place. Go back to all levels of coaching and Tom Cable had very little success, especially as a head coach. In 3 years at Idaho he had a 11-35 record. As head coach of our Raiders he has a 6-12 records. Some even say he's a good offensive line coach, but if that's the case, how come our offensive line has been one of the worst lines in the NFL since he's been here?

Anyway, this is a very frustrating year... I had high expectations and from the outset and they have disappointed from day one. I don't think things will change much until Al hires a GM that can make better use of these high draft picks year after year. Then allows that said GM to hire a good quality coach. Then allow that good quality coach to actually hire his own staff and implement his own system. The last time Al Davis did that was with Bruce Allen and Jon Gruden, and it worked wonders. Problem being, when Al does that, he doesn't get the credit for the team on the field (only the credit for the coaching hire), which drives him mad.

Here's to the thought of Jon Gruden coming in to the rescue, but in reality, it's more likely a guy like Jim Fassel. Definitely wouldn't be my first choice, but Fassel is certainly a hell of lot better than Cable.

Anyway, with KC, Washington, Cleveland (maybe Cincinnati at home), there are still some winnable games on the schedule. Hopefully we can win at least 4 more games and at least say we made progress from the previous year.

Pretty much right on the money with that post Craig. At the end of last season with those two wins against play-off teams I thought we'd turned the corner and we would continue to improve this season. It turns out that we didn't turn the corner but made a U turn and started going back the other way.
This season is worse that Art Shell's one-off season.Art did more with a team with less talent than Cable has with all these first rounders. The fact that the Saints D has scored as many TD's as our O says it all.
I'm usually not this negative but the situation is depressing.............sorry.

As far as Gruden............go take a look at what the excellent Jerry Mac has wrote.

I'm convinced that until Al Davis leaves this team. Releases control and this means behind the scenes control. The Oakland Raiders will stay at the bottom 8-teams of the NFL. I'm totally convinced.

Al Davis could bring in Jesus Christ as a wide receiver and we'd still lose as long as he's running the day-to-day operations.

Truth nation....
