Just days before Oakland's preseason opener, here's five camp battles to keep a close eye on and the forecasted winner of each....

Excellent analysis. I'm especially intrigued with how Moses can help us. I can just hear Berman now when they go to Arrowhead and Moses parts the "Red Sea".

JaMarcus Russell knows that when and if he signs, he is going to be the starter. McCown and Walter are not series candidates to be starters. They are battling to be #3.

They picked up Culpepper because by the time they started shopping around, he was all that was left. Miami had no confidence in him and he was considered such a risk that nobody would after anything in trade for him. Culpepper has no track record. That Culpepper is gone and the 2007 Culpepper needs to prove himself from scratch. His other big problem is that the Raiders are a bad fit for him. To make a comeback, he needed a team with a line that could protect him and give him lots of time. The offensive line for the Raiders can't help him.

As far as center, the Raiders have two bad choices and they should probably find a better choice. John Madsen isn't a real TE and will not start. At FB, who cares.... Neither one of them is very young. The choice at FB should really be for someone younger than either guy who will be around at the end of the rebuilding years.

Good article. According to Fox Sports.com, The Raiders have offered Russell about $30 Million in guarantees. Apparantly Russell want $35 million. Last year #1 pick got 26.7Million. DOes anyone else see a problem here? What a prick. I desipise Russell. I thought he wanted to come in here and show what he could do. $30 million is enough to show what you can do. I have never been so ashamed of a Raider draft pick. And by the way if anyone knows who Jason Cole is of Yahoo sports, he ALWAYS dogs the Raiders. He says its the Raiders fault that we can't sign him. We are offering him enough money, so its not the Raiders fault. Russell has turned out to be a greedy piece of crap. At the same time, in the first mini camp, in May he said he wanted to compete for the startingjob. If he really wanted to do that, he would have taken the money and signed, He has not done that. I was really hyoping Russell would come in and show what he has. He has been an unbelievable disappoinment. It may be preseason, but this is the time to hone your skills before the season. I hope he realizes that the Raider nation will notaccept him without an apology on his part. $30 million is enough!!
Here's to the Raiders coming back
