Bias: noun, 1. a personal and sometimes unreasoned judgment. It's a word that carries a negative connotation that most people would never want to be labeled with. Unfortunately, the NFL as an entity is replete with bias. This is not necessarily its fault; the league tries to adhere to it's own doctrine in leveling the playing field through...

Ditto. While I don't have a true die-hard devotion to one NFL team like I did as a child (Dallas Cowboys) I am devoted unconditionaly to my alma mater and all its athletic programs. That would be Auburn University. I admire my dad, also an Auburn alum, who endured a 9 game losing streak to the dreaded Tide and the jeers of the local Bear-Bryant loving bandwagoners even though they all lived only 30 minutes from the Auburn campus. My time as a Tiger has been somewhat easier than my dad's but there have been lows to be sure but I never had the thought cross my mind to switch to the popular winning program of the day. I see fair-weather fans as having a serious character flaw because they are only able to root for the winners, whoever that may be at any given time in any sport. I feel for them though because a season like Auburn had in 2004 was truly special, much more than a t-shirt or highlight dvd. An fair weather fans will never experience true joy at the success of their team(s) becuase their teams change with the winds. When one of those types says something to me like "you need a Bama shirt" I simply show them my class ring and say "why would I do that, I graduated from Auburn, when exactly did you graduate from Alabama?"...to which I recieve a smirk and a breath of frustration. War Eagle!
