| The Redskins may think they got a good deal but the real Saints insiders believe the deal to the Redskins was a even wash. Before his injury, Jamaal Brown was failing fast out of favor with the offensive line coach and most importantly, with Drew Brees. In short, Jamaal made too many mental errors to be trusted to protect the left side of Drew Brees. Secondly, Jamaal is not the most studious or even lack hustle at times especially in the kind of offensive the Saints had plan since Sean Payton took over the helm in New Orleans. Yes, he's a decent LT but his mental capacity and lack of hustle on crucial drives made him lack favor with the Super Bowl MVP and with the offensive line coah. So what did the Saints do in the draft, draft a young more talented and pure LT in the draft-they drafted Charles Brown out of USC. After the mini-camp in May, it was even more evident that they Saints management made the right choice. Word from mini-camp was that Charles Brown actually picked-up blocking scheme faster and already knew assignments that it took Jamaal Brown an entire week to understand-and he still didn't during game time on Sunday. In short, Payton has a strong lean to smart players that can coach themselves at some point during real live game action (i.e. Brees, Sharper, Vilma, Porter, Moore...etc). In sum, Jamaal Brown did not have this quality in which Payton believes is essential in a championship team. I may be wrong but I believe the Redskins will find out that Jamaal Brown may be physically talented but he can not be counted on when the going gets tough. Donovan McNabb will find out also when he ask to coach for extra protection on his left side. | ||
