New Orleans Saints
No one in his right mind would consider 2005 a good year for the New Orleans Saints. Once upon a time, the Dallas Cowboys cheekily referred to themselves as "America's Team." Last year, the Saints were America's Poster Child -- the world's first homeless football team. With their home stadium not only trashed by Hurricane Katrina but then...

Great article...it is hard not to root for the Saints this year, regardless of who your 'favorite' team might personally be. It must be made of stone if your heart did not bleed for the city during their struggles...to see them standing on top, slugging it out, and winning through a team effort if just uplifting, but the relationship between team/coach and fans is fully inspiring (i think some apt anaologies would be the Detroit Pistons' recent title or the Steelers' win last year).

Ignoring Katrina, the Saints still deserve their win-streak and new persona. Like all Lions fans, Saint Lovers have had to just hold out hope for the good days that seem to never come 'round the corner, but after years and years and years of waiting...it is just great! I wish them the best...

(caveat: i just hope they do not win the Superbowl this year, then the feel-good story aspect might eclipse the larger-than-life run of the Mighty Steelers last year...the best Superbowl-run story ever. How could you compete with the story of a Saints run from 3 wins to the top prize? thankfully, they still have a little bit of time before they are THAT much of a serious contender.)

Keep on trucking New Orleans!
