Texas Longhorns
The Texas Longhorns upheld their end of the bargain this past college football season. However, bowl meltdowns by Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, and Missouri knocked Texas down to fourth in the final Associated Press rankings. Ohio State gave the Horns all they could handle in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl and went in front 21-17 with just...

Hillman, you sound exactly like all of the rest of the Cryhorns. Boo-hoo, the Cryhorns did not deserve this, Boo-hoo, the Cryhorns did not deserve that. Who are you kidding? The ONLY thing the horns did of special merit was to UPSET the Sooners. Otherwise, they played a nothing non-conference schedule, barely beat Oklahoma State IN Austin, lost to Tech in Lubbock and lost the tie breaker for the Big 12 South. Yes they eked out a win in their bowl game but they demonstrated, by a very poor performance, that they are not the powerhouse you cry babies would like everyone to believe. Had they dominated the #2 team in the Big 10, they would not have dropped in the polls. So don't put that on the rest of the Big 12, you pathetic cry baby. They did that to themselves.

Finally, if you consider Missouri's win in the bowl game a "meltdown" how can you possibly not include the Texas win as a "meltdown"????

All I have to say is it't a good thing this season is over for UT, because if they had another win they might have finished outside the top 10, they fell twice after wins including beating a great Ohio state team and finishing the big 12 tied for first. Can you say playoff. This season just sux I am most shocked by the coaches you would think they could pick the obvious team that should be ranked second, all I hear is about Texas non Confrence schedule but USC played a very weak schedule with one or two exceptions , no body seems to remember that

Hamm,

You make some valid points. However, except for the Tech game in Lubbock, the Longhorns always found a way to win in 2008. They came within one play and one second and pulling out that contest as well against a Red Raider team hitting on all cylinders at the time.

Although it followed Big 12 rules, I can't accept your point on the BCS tiebreaker. It's a lousy measure and will probably be changed at the spring league meetings.

Thanks for input and comments. That kind of discussion keeps me on my toes.
