Rumors have circulated for several months, current Texas governor Rick Perry wants the A&M presidential post if his political career heads south. Chancellor McKinney previously served as Perry's chief of staff, and Perry has appointed all the current A&M regents.

The Aggie power struggle is far from over.

Murano returned to a faculty post in A&M's agricultural school. She has tenure and probably won't rock the boat. I expect she will receive a generous contract until retirement for keeping the lid on this nasty situation.

The Perry machine definitely won this round.
