Adding Doss makes sense for Vikings

Minnesota Vikings
If you were scratching your head Thursday morning when you read that the Vikings signed safety Mike Doss to a one-year deal, you probably weren't alone. Minnesota has enough holes to fill, and safety didn't seem to be an area of concern with veterans Darren Sharper, Dwight Smith, Tank Williams and second-year man Greg Blue already filling up...

Erick Krupka is right in this article...Doss certainly can't hurt and he really didn't cost alot. The Vikes get a guy that was a 2nd round draft pick 4 years ago, as well as one that won the National champioship at Ohio State. I think the Vikes are lucky to get him. He's a hard hitter and very intelligent player. If all of the safeties can't get on the field, at least they can go to special teams and make that position better!

Yeah it's a good signing...it even means Dwight Smith can move over and play nickle corner if need be. I don't know though...but I believe Minnesota is gonna make some type of trade or signing that will make Viking fans say "oh ok now I understand what they were doing this off-season".

Another DB signing...pardon me if I delay my excitement. At least the team knows it needs to improve the pass defense. The only reason the Vikes were #32 in Pass D is because there are only 32 teams in the NFL. I liked Doss in college, and am glad we picked him up. Now if we could figure out how to put all the pieces of the puzzle together. Leslie Frazier was a DB in the NFL, maybe he can get this pass D into the mid-teens for the first time since forever.
