Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota Vikings cornerback Antoine Winfield has been a no-show at many of the team's offseason functions this spring, reportedly because of displeasure he has with the direction of the team and his contract. It seems kind of ironic that the Vikings' second-leading tackler from a year ago would be upset with the approach the front office has...

Agree totally, love the draft and i like the braintrust. Childress, spielman, studwell and wilf. A new upper echelon team direction where we can be competitive every year. Granted the rookie coaching, how was bellichek his first time out? A seasoned backup qb would be nice just in case. Scott Holcomb maybe.

How about another dismal season of mediocrity......will we finally see the end of the Childress debacle? He has single-handedly rid the Vikings of all their talented players, and now we (as fans) have to suffer through this joke!

How could we possibly know that Winfield is dissappointed with the direction of this team? He hasn't said anything at all about why he missed the OTA's. It's pure speculation by the media to say that he doesn't like the direction of the team. Personally, I believe it has much more to do with $$$ than anything else. He just watched Clements sign an 8 year/ $80 million contract with the 49ers, and then looks at his 6 year/$36 million dollar contract and probably thinks he deserves more money. Most rational people would certainly pick Winfield as the better of the two CB's.

These players want long term contracts to protect them financially from injury, but then whine about the dollar amount when the market dictates a rise in salaries for their position. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what Zygi is willing to do to keep Antoine around.
