Anderson inks three-year deal with Browns

Saturday, March 01, 2008 | Posted by Hugo Guzman

Quarterback Derek Anderson agreed to a three-year contract worth at least $24 million with the Cleveland Browns on Friday. Anderson earned a trip to the Pro Bowl after going 10-5 as the team's starter. (Charlie Frye started the season opener.)

The Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that general manager Phil Savage will not consider trading Anderson, meaning that the team's top pick from last year, Brady Quinn, will remain the backup.

Commentary: This is a smart move by Cleveland, securing the services of a (relatively) proven 24-year old who's only going to get better. He threw for for 3,787 yards with 29 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. Who knows what Quinn would do. Like so many first-round quarterbacks, he could flop.

Fantasy Football Impact: Anderson will go in your top-10 quarterbacks in next year's draft.
