Linebacker Zach Thomas has received an offer from the New Orleans Saints, according to the Florida Sun-Sentinel. He has already received an offer from the Patriots, and among rumors that the Cowboys, Broncos, Bills and Jets are interested, ESPN is now reporting that the Lions may meet with the seven-time Pro Bowler.
Thomas, 34, is the all-time-leading tackler for the Dolphins and played more games for them than any other defender. They put him on injured reserve in December for migraines, then released him as the team goes in a younger direction under new head of football operations Bill Parcells.
"I am healthy and look forward to playing in 2008, but will always consider myself a Miami Dolphin," Thomas said after he was released.
Commentary: Linebackers can be very effective in their mid-30s. Exhibit A: The 2007 Patriots won a few games with Mike Vrabel (32), Tedy Bruschi (34), and Junior Seau (38).
Fantasy Football Impact: He stands to improve any run defense he joins.
